about

Debut album of outsider pop from Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland, Europe's LOCKED HANDS.
Belfast-born, Edinburgh-based Locked Hands is the DIY Pop mission of Sean Ormsby (whose previous and current form includes Night Noise Team, Blue Tiles and Errant Boy).

Call it: a rhythmically driven and layered collision of melody, samples and whatever instruments were to hand

Call it: ‘fantastic’ (Scots Whay Hae blog), ‘sublime’ (Is This Music? Blog), ‘beautiful and haunting’ (The Barley Boat blog), ‘always compelling’ (When You Motor Away blog)

Don’t call it: a lockdown album.

Title: The Fort Rhythm Section was conceived and executed on the redeveloped site of the former Fort House, Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland where Irvine Welsh’s novels Trainspotting and Skagboys are partly set. He describes two of the characters, an aspiring drummer and bassist, as The Fort Rhythm Section.

Locked Hands: both hands playing the same chord shapes on a piano; comfort; restraint; community;
